Grapho Game: Ending illiteracy with evidence-based literacy solutions
At xEdu we are proud to follow the journey of our alumni. One inspiring example is GraphoGame, a Finnish EdTech company that joined the very first edition of NextEdu in Torino. Their mission is clear: to tackle illiteracy on a global scale through research-based technology and scalable solutions.
With over 1.2 billion people worldwide unable to read and write and a shortage of more than 44 million teachers, GraphoGame offers a digital literacy app that combines advanced research, gamification and predictive algorithms. Designed to work in schools, institutions, and homes (even without teacher supervision) the app empowers children in underserved communities to develop literacy skills independently. At the same time, it provides teachers with powerful literacy analytics to predict reading difficulties, suggest interventions, and ensure no student is left behind. GraphoGame is based on the GraphoGame Method, a scientifically validated approach that has been researched by more than 30 universities, with over 300 scientific publications and 20 PhD theses contributing to its evidence base.
Since taking part in NextEdu, GraphoGame has refined its strategy and product portfolio, achieving major milestones:
Expanding with new product launches and school partnerships in Norway and France, with strong demand also from parents.
Progressing steadily with a UNICEF literacy project in Malaysia.
Exploring growth opportunities in South Africa, Peru, Brazil, and the United States.
Being selected for the prestigious MasterCard MASSIV programme, supporting high-impact start-ups in scaling globally.
With a growing team, a scalable business model and increasing global recognition, GraphoGame is positioning itself as a leader in evidence-based literacy solutions worldwide. At xEdu, we celebrate their achievements as proof of the importance of evidence-driven EdTech and the impact that dedicated start-up teams can achieve.
